OK, so yes it probably is a death cult after all, and God had the nerve to let His Own Son to die in the hands of Romans after a good but spotty run of evangelization... can’t I just choose what to believe in? And what to specifically believe in? Can I just leave out the ugly, shitty, Ancient Aliens bits and just focus on the “How to Live a Life Properly and Make Peace With Others and Not Be a Blithering Asshole” bits? Is it too much to ask?

Can you give me any Ferrari or Le Mans Forza wallpaper (1600x900) to calm me down? The !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! I’ve been waiting for to have in Trackmania Forever isn’t cutting it anymore. Also some epic music similar to !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .

Honestly, and this is going to sound weird coming from an Atheist, but I’ve got no problem with you following that path, and I won’t make fun of you for doing it. Trust me, over time I’ve realized that despite my rather sort of uninterested atheism (Basically if you were to ask me if I believe in god, the short answer would be “I dunno” and leave it at that.) I do get that faith and a belief in a loving god and in afterlife is very important for some people, as long as people follow their religion and don’t use it to brow-beat or hate other people who don’t believe in it, practice however you want.
Besides, I hate Atheists to the point I refuse to almost call myself one, I’ve seen plenty of “intelligent” and “loving” and “open-minded/non-judgmental” atheists who act just as bigoted, hateful, close-minded, ignorant, hypocritical, and just flat out despicable as the Christians and religious people they complain about and despise. I guess it’s true what they, you are what you hate.
Anyways, those are my two cents. Have some Two Steps from Hell

Thanks. There are comforting words.
Anyway, do you have something I can ogle at?

Sadly, I don’t, I’m not terribly good with wallpaper or photo software.

I’m almost in a similar camp. I’m more of a disinterested deist. I like to think a God exists but don’t follow any formal religion. I live by three principals.
1) Don’t be a dick
2) Try to help everyone you realistically can.
3) Seriously, don’t be a dick.
I feel that any decent God will let me have a decent afterlife with that.

Sad part is a lot of self-described atheists can’t even form their own argument, they just parrot whatever they read in Richard Dawkins or Christopher Hitchens’ books when they were edgy 14-year-olds. Rational discussion can be healthy and interesting in regards to opposing views but I’ve found a lot of them are militantly opposed to anything besides their own opinions so nothing productive comes out of the conversation besides insults and condescension from their end. Like you said, sounds oddly like the people they love to hate.
full disclosure: I’m not religious either and the stigma annoys me too.

This! I'm deeply embarrassed to admit that I'm an atheist because the loudmouths make us all look terrible.

I got you bro. I just read that article too.
Unsolicited advice: Don’t listen to whatever a rich guy has to say just because he drives an exotic car. I almost got caught in a pyramid scheme doing that.

I’m atheist and though I personally hate religion and what it’s been used for or in the name of. I accept peoples right to believe in what they choose to believe in but get annoyed when people refuse to let me have my own opinion on it and choose science over religion.
can’t we just be good and kind to each other without having to refer to a book and say ‘it says to be good and kind’.
No matter what we all believe in, etc... we are all stuck on this little planet hurtling through space at thousands of miles an hour so lets make the best of it.

You’re not alone, man. The reasonable, kind people just tend to be the quieter ones. Keep on keeping on.
Also keep on ogling beautiful metal.

You know, since there will be a Porsche expansion pack coming up on Forza 6, That Test We’ve Been Wanting To See So Badly may just happen, though it wouldn’t really be the real thing per se, but hey, better than nothing.

So I’m a devout Christian and a screaming queen.
I’ve been through a shitload of crazy and abuse within the faith. I get why you say what you have and fully respect it.
For what it’s worth, I hold on to my faith because I believe in a God of love. I try to follow my conscience and trust my experiences, which lead me to continue in my Christian faith.
Our beliefs differ. Your conscience, your experiences, and your beliefs are up to you. And I hope you don’t get hassled for them.
Yours don't threaten mine and I hope mine don't threaten yours. No worries here.

^ Probably my favorite Group C car to look at.
As far as religion goes, I’ve always kinda felt like I don’t care what people do as long as it makes them a good person. I was raised Catholic, went to Catholic school from pre-school through high school, and I’m not a practicing Catholic. It’s just not something I need right now.
My mom works at like 5 churches, goes to church almost every day, but she isn’t one of the crazy religious people...I guess maybe you’d call her progressive. For her, religion does a lot of good, so it’s weird to me that a lot of people of the exact same faith use that faith to be inconsiderate bigots when my mom uses it to be a better person.
Basically, do whatever brings you the most joy. For my mom, that’s going to church every day and believing in everything but not becoming an asshole because of it. For me, it’s not doing that but also not being an asshole.

This is why I considered myself a Christian-Light or Diet Christian. I pick and choose what I what to believe in. Every time I do a dirt bike race, or go riding with friends, I say a long prayer for our safety. But I’m okay with prostitution, pick and choose what makes sense.

I, mush like the rest of Oppo apparently, am an atheist. But here’s the thing: I’m not a dick about it. I genuinely hate the people who shove their atheism in other people’s faces. But because of where I live, I am in a very small minority. I am a bisexual, liberal, atheist that works at Chick-Fil-A. As you can guess, it’s not the Best Time in the World.
But everything boils down to this: If people are tolerant of me, I’ll be tolerant of them.
And this is why I like Oppo. We’re all tolerant.

My personal philosophy comes from these guys:
“Be excellent to each other. Party on, dudes!”
I think that’s what it all comes down to, whatever specific beliefs you have or practices you may follow. Be a good person. Treat others well. And, of course, Wheaton’s Law: Don’t be a dick.
There are good and bad eggs in every group.

Can I just leave out the ugly, shitty,
Ancient Aliens
bits and just focus on the “How to Live a Life Properly and Make Peace With Others and Not Be a Blithering Asshole” bits? Is it too much to ask?
That’s how I found humanism . It’s the only ethical construct that really makes sense to me. No dogma, just the acknowledgement that this life is precious and we are all in this together. Religion only serves to separate people and it doesn’t stand up to scrutiny of evidence. I don’t believe in gods of any sort but I don’t judge those who do, except when they use their belief to try to get preferential treatment.

I’m a Christian and am perfectly accepting of you as an atheist. Believe it or not, there are some of us out there that don’t want to shove our beliefs down your throat and are accepting of all ideas and beliefs (or lack-thereof). Personally, I don’t think any religion has the full picture of life or the afterlife and everything in between, so I find it completley absurd that anyone claims that they do and tries to force others to believe it too. I believe in what I feel makes the most sense to me, but I have my own personal take on it that doesn’t necessarily follow the mainstream ideals.
can’t we just be good and kind to each other without having to refer to a book and say ‘it says to be good and kind’.
No matter what we all believe in, etc... we are all stuck on this little planet hurtling through space at thousands of miles an hour so lets make the best of it.
THIS. 100% THIS. It bothers me to no end that people have to rely on the Bible or the Torah or the Qur’an or whatever book their religion uses to tell them to be good. We’re all humans. None of us is more special than the others. We’re all made of the same molecules. We’re all gonna die in the end and none of us has any real idea what the fuck is gonna happen afterwards. So can we not all just be chill and make the best of the time that we have on this tiny insignificant rock we call Earth?

Oh, no worries. I didn’t get any hate, just that those blokes on the i09 article rubbed me the wrong way.
The real shit is when (1) blokes stone the new NSX or (2) the new NSX is borked.
